Professor Dr. theol. Thomas Hieke, born March 13, 1968,
married to Isabella Beyer, teacher at a High School level (Gymnasium) for German language and Religious education.
We two are happy about our daughter Rebecca-Laura (born March 2, 1999), our twins Riccarda Noemi and Leonard Joshua (born March 28, 2001) and our daughter Veronica Deborah Brigitta (born July 12, 2007).
I studied Catholic Theology at the universities of Bamberg and Innsbruck (Austria) and earned my first degree (Diplom) in 1992.
My main interests are Biblical Theology, Biblical Exegesis of the Hebrew Bible as well as the New Testament, especially the Synoptic Gospels.
Since 1992 I am member of the International Q Project. From 1992 to 1996 I prepared my dissertation about Psalm 80 and the communal laments (Hebrew Bible). I did my doctorate under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Hubert Irsigler (now Freiburg/Br.) in Bamberg.
From 1996 to 2000 I worked in a New Testament research project on the Synoptic Gospels (Prof. Dr. Paul Hoffmann).
Since October 2000 I am Assistant Professor at the University of Regensburg, Biblical Theology: Exegesis and Hermeneutics of the Old Testament. Prof. Dr. Christoph Dohmen is Chair of the department for Old Testament Exegesis. I wrote myHabilitationsschrift about the genealogies in the Book of Genesis. The book is published as Herders Biblische Studien 39 (fall 2003).
Since 2007 I teach as professor for Old Testament Exegesis at the University of Mainz.
